Our Product Review Process

As publishers in the psychology and mental health space, we believe it is our duty to ensure our content adds value to readers by being informative, reliable and trustworthy—and our product reviews are no exception.

When recommending a product, we follow a comprehensive review process that meets our internal product review criteria and Advertising Policy.

Before recommending a product or service, our team conducts thorough research of consumer reviews/data, analyzes competing product alternatives and/or tests the product(s)/service(s) first-hand to document benefits and disbenefits.

This thorough research/testing process helps us formulate our final recommendations for what we believe to be the best product choices for our audience.

Our lead product reviewer has extensive, hands-on experience personally testing many products in the psychology and mental health space; from hypnosis tapes, to online therapy providers, to meditation apps and more.

Product Review Criteria: QEA Framework & Evaluation

Product reviews are evaluated, scored and benchmarked against our internal QEA framework: Quality, Effectiveness and Accessibility (‘QEA’).

Quality

Is this product or service truly worth the price tag? Is it the best pick in relation to other alternatives in the same category? What makes this product or service superior/inferior?

Questions like these are front-of-mind when our team tests, reviews and recommends products to our audience. Ultimately, we aim to be as transparent as possible about the quality of products and services we review, so our audience can make better informed purchase decisions.

However, it is important to note that Discussing Psychology and it’s associated content is not a substitute for professional health advice or mental-health advice/diagnosis. Our content exists for entertainment purposes only. Always contact a relevant, qualified health professional when making decisions regarding your health, lifestyle, diet or otherwise.

Effectiveness

Will the product perform as expected? Does it achieve it’s desired result(s)? What are it’s limitations?

When evaluating a product, we make it clear who we believe the product is for and the different purpose(s) it serves. We strive to ensure our product reviews are transparent, holistic, fair and provide a balanced view of a product’s strengths, weaknesses and overall effectiveness.

Accessibility

People from all walks of life consume our content on a daily basis.

Our audience is diverse and are located across different parts of the world, with differing backgrounds and varying budgets.

As such, when we create product reviews, we score products based on their accessibility, affordability and required qualifications (where applicable).
