Maladaptive Daydreaming: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Maladaptive daydreaming (MD) is a condition where a person feels compelled to spend hours in vivid, elaborate fantasy daydreams. It differs from normal daydreaming by three factors: an intense yearning to daydream, repetitive physical movements during episodes, and significant impairment in daily life. Research suggests it may affect about 2.5% of the population.
